NEW studio recording IN THE WORKS! (confirmation of a life lesson through music)
I once heard the statement “talking about music is like dancing about architecture”. At first, my eyes went cross and I had no idea what the heck that statement meant.
“Dancing about architecture? How does one do that?!”. Exactly! That was the answer! It’s just short of impossible to think that CLEARLY communicating one’s thoughts about an architectural structure could be done through dance! SO, with music, the same very appropriately applies.
Following our instincts, Friday night marked the beginning of what will be the first studio release for Mark DeRose & The Dreadnought Brigade. We piled into Folktowne Studios (Manheim, PA), set up our gear and hit the record button.
For absolutely anyone who ever records it’s an amazing experience – BOTH insanely humbling and uplifting at the same time! The goal for us with this recording is to take our time to put out a 6 song EP before the end of 2013. Even more so, we are working on “finding our sound”.
These handful of years later after hearing the above advice of “Talking about music…..”, I found myself, on Friday night, leaning heavily on this wisdom. Very happily, these words are ringing true for the Dreadnought Brigade and I.
I have come to realize that SOOOO MUCH in life can be done by this same advice. Whether it’s at your job, your marriage, your exercise routine, etc., it’s sometimes better to stop talking and simply “play the music”. Believe in your instincts/talents and in whom you’ve surrounded yourself and start “making some music”!
