I was away most of last week on vacation in South Carolina playing golf... I think my head and motivation may still be down there (?) Or maybe it's this weather? N E HOO, I digress... the matter at hand! We have a show this Friday that means a lot to us cuz it's our first time that we will get the opportunity to play at the Chameleon Club here in Lancaster. Snow, snow, snow... Saturday the 3rd annual snowball got postponed til the 20th... and today my show in Pburgh @ WCCC has to be postponed as well. I am starting to think I am not meant to play any music this week. I am hopeful this second storm coming our way will coincide better with my performance schedule.
I will be sure to take my camera and flip with me this week to catch any stuffs along the way that I think might be of interest. In the meantime, please check out the gig calendar to see when we are playing again in your neck of the woods. The Snowball coming up in two weeks should prove to be a good time! Hopeful lots of folks can make it out to that one. We had a tough time pulling the trigger to postpone last week's show considering how much work has gone into it as of late... but we, like all of us, knew mother nature had other plans. I still can't get over how much snow fell. I have some time off this week while on the road and I am packing my snowboard to do a little bit of riding. Should be pretty great... headed to Blue Knob for the first time. Anyhoo... it would seem I don't have a ton to write about at this point considering I am going on about snowboarding. That said, the ball is starting to get rolling for our First Annual Rootenanny that will feature a night of guest musicians sitting in with MDRBand - some of you may remember Curt Sipe on Sax, Amanda Perko on Vocals and Mike Washkevich on Drums who sat in with us last year at our show at the Capitol Theater in April. They all will be back again this year... additional guests to be announced soon (hint, horn section) On the bill also, MIZ the Band (http://www.myspace.com/mikemizwinski) Check Mike out... you will not be disappointed. Peace...
Monday, January 25, 2010Sarah Street Grill in Stroudsburg, PA
This past saturday we traveled up to Stroudburg, PA to play for the first time at the Sarah Street Grill. I had known of the place for some time and had learned a good bit about it's reputation for supporting LIVE and original music.... myself and my bandmates were not at all disappointed and we look forward to gaining the opportunity to go back again. OVERALL, a pretty cool place. The staff, the owner, the manager... John the sound engineer... everyone was very friendly!
Plus they have this large screen tv that features live concert footage from random concerts (Live 8, Bob Marley, even shows from the Sarah St Grill) and an assortment of music videos. This "video screen" had all 4 of us AMAZED and ENTRANCED! (We did have one semi unfriendly, rather drunken, decolletage flashing heckler... but you'll have this... and she didn't stick around too, too long after she found out we weren't going to be playing too many covers.... but that had nothing to do with the venue... more the liquid encouragement she had in her.) SO, if you ever happen to be in Stroudsburg, PA... visit the Sarah Street Grill and tell 'em we sent you. You most likely will not get any special treatment but you will get to enjoy some YUMMY FOOD, big screen concert footage and you will give the MDRBand a little boost in doing so! :) Monday, January 18, 2010Upcoming stuffs...
Things are plugging along here in the beginning of the new year... it's almost time to stop considering the whole "new year" isn't it?
N e hoozy.... we had plans to head into the studio here in the first couple weeks of Jan. that had to be put on hold til late May/early June. (Eddie our recording engineer/producer has been called away to work with on a project that was too good to pass up.... Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 involved in the project!) SO... this means that we will hopefully be getting a good handful of more tracks on the album for you... we will see how the writing goes in the meantime! Last week... we also found out that the 3rd annual Snowball has been sold out! It was packaged this year to college students and their school's campus activity boards... and it went very, very well in regard to how it was received! Looking forward to that gig very much with two of our fellow "college market friends" Tim Blane Band and Huck! Also.... we're enjoying some down time... working on some new tunes... doing some writing and the like.... aaaannd... working on getting some dates on the calendar for some outdoor festival gigs for the coming summer!!! LOVE playing tunes al fresco! Keep an eye on the calendar and be sure to mark down Jan. 29th at the Appalachian Brewing Co. when MDRBand will share the stage with Steven Courtney Band of Friends! Be well.... peas!
Monday, January 11, 2010MDRBand opens for Michelle Branch
This past Friday on the 8th of Jan we had the good fortune to open for Grammy Award winning artist Michelle Branch. Each and every person we met that night was so kind and gracious to us... from the first person at the door who let us into the theatre, to the stage hands, to all of Michelle Branch's crew. Thanks so much to the American Music Theatre for having us... we are forever grateful. And thanks so much to the entire MDRMusic crew and fans who came out to show their support.

Tuesday, December 8, 2009Jay and Ben make a pledge!Wednesday, December 2, 2009Ravens' halftime show....We couldn't have asked for a better day! The folks we worked with at the MandT Stadium - from the marketing dept., to the band, and the ENTIRE crew - were ALL so very kind and good to us. They made us feel so welcome and for all of the effort they put into making our day special, we are so very grateful! Not to forget, considering that it was the end November, we could not have asked for a nicer Fall day. Just cold enough to let you know winter is on it's way! Of course we would be even more forgetful if we did not mention that the outcome of the game that went into overtime was very good considering our host's point of view! I know that I believe I may be turning into a little bit of a Ravens fan myself. Here are just a couple of photos from the day... to check out video from our day at M and T Bank Stadium visit....
